Anna M. Durbin has been active in federal criminal defense for over 25 years. Ms. Durbin graduated from Stanford University Phi Beta Kappa and Yale Law School. A former federal public defender and law clerk to U.S. District Judge Norma Shapiro, Ms. Durbin taught a criminal defense clinic at the University of Connecticut School of Law. During her first year of law school, she began representing inmates at FCI Danbury, and continued all three years as well as serving on the board of Prison Legal Services, for which she won a faculty award. Ms. Durbin completed a clinical criminal defense program at Georgetown Law Center as an intensive semester during law school. She is a graduate of the National College of Criminal Defense, as well as the Trial Lawyers College founded by Gerry Spence. She has taught legal research and writing at the Bryn Mare College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, Law and Social Policy Program as well as at Whittier Law School in Los Angeles. Ms. Durbin continues to teach legal ethics courses for the Philadelphia Bar Education Center, now Philadelphia Bar Institute, and was chair of a hearing committee for the lawyer disciplinary board. She currently serves on the felony Criminal Justice Act panel for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and fills in for CJA overflow in the District of Delaware. She is an active member of the Criminal Law Committee of the Federal Bar Association. She practices in the firm's Philadelphia area office, where she has won trials and appeals charging mail fraud, false statements, extortion, and obtained many sentences below the guidelines for her clients.
