Karen L. Landau, of counsel to the firm, formerly served as the Senior Criminal Motions attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Terence T. Evans of the Eastern District of Wisconsin, now elevated to the Seventh Circuit.  She has worked closely with many Ninth Circuit judges.  Since 1993, Ms. Landau has specialized in post-conviction representation, including direct criminal appeals, federal habeas corpus, 2255 matters and other post conviction remedies.  She has handled a wide variety of complex appellate and habeas corpus matters.  Ms. Landau continues to serve as a member of the Criminal Justice Act Appellate Panel for the Central and Northern Districts of California.  She is the co-author of the Federal Post Conviction Guidebook, the Federal Sentencing Guidebook and Litigating in a Post-Booker World.  She received her law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law in 1985.  Ms. Landau is a member of the California bar.
